How we work

See it for yourself.

There is more information available than ever. The hard part is understanding it. We find the few numbers that matter in a company's own reports, show exactly where they came from, and explain what they mean. Then you decide what you think.

  1. Public sources only.SEC filings, government data and company disclosures. Nothing private, nothing from insiders.
  2. Every number is traceable.A source line on screen for every chart; the filing, the period and our arithmetic on the story's page.
  3. We label the basis.A company-wide average is never called the cost of one cup. Each company's own profit measure is named, and profit is never compared across companies that measure it differently.
  4. If the filing doesn't say it, we don't.Anything we can't confirm in a public source is left out or clearly labelled.
  5. An outside check before every long-form.Each long-form gets an independent fact check before it goes up, then a recheck against the filing.
  6. Corrections in public.A mistake found after posting gets a pinned comment on the video and a note on the story's page.
  7. About the business, not the people.Findings are about how a company makes money, never judgments about named individuals.
